The Problem
Each store handled their Alterations new-hire onboarding and training process in a different way, resulting in:
- unclear associate expectations
- wasted resources on unnecessary travel
- substandard training and poor associate perception
The Goal
A corporate-wide initiative to standardize the Alterations new-hire process across several hundred stores, requiring at least half-dozen people to coordinate across the country for each new associate.
How I Did It
By working with store and Alterations management to assess needs, I pinned down a standard process that worked for everyone. I then gained commitment from the trainers and hiring managers—along with support from corporate executives—to tweak the new process after implementation.
